LAND
ART
Land Art sessions are a great way to spend time outdoors, getting to know the land and nature around us, seeing things differently, and feeling more connected to earth. These sessions are suitable for all ages and abilities, adaptations can also be made to make the land art-making as accessible as possible.
Participants will work outdoors in a natural space such as a woodland, park or garden, and work with natural materials such as earth, wood, foliage and flowers to create ephemeral artworks within the natural environment. These sessions are run mindfully, using what is abundant at the time. The land art sessions are a lovely way of connecting with and learning about nature, exploring landscapes and discovering the colours, patterns and textures in natural materials. Photographs can be taken as a record of the land art pieces. Whilst it is an activity that doesn't have a take-home item at the end, there is something freeing in the process of making for makings sake. The land art can be created as individual pieces, or as a larger, collective piece.
The sessions are fun, playful and explorative, and can be great as a simple, vibrant, creative activity for groups, but if your group has particular themes that would be beneficial to consider, land art can be used to explore ideas around mindfulness, pattern, colour, nature-connection, ecology, ecotherapy, letting go, bereavement/loss and new beginnings.
